This encounter resulted in the creation of the rag tune Heliotrope Bouquet. The latter of the two, who could neither read nor write music, composed the first two parts, A and B. Scott Joplin assisted Chauvin with the notation and completed the joint composition by contributing the two additional parts C and D.
